In my spare time, I love all things exploring and nature! I enjoying hiking, kayaking, geocaching, thrifting, history/archaeology, gardening, making terrariums, LEGO, and hanging out with my earless cat, Vincent.
Hi, my name is Jodie Eldridge. I'm a certified practicing counsellor and principal psychotherapist with Your Knowledge.
After a 25 year career in corporate knowledge, business research, and information management, I decided to shift gears during COVID-19. I realised my true passion was in helping real people tackle their problems, and journeying with them towards those "ah ha" moment of clarity and personal insight.
Your Knowledge came about because I saw a connection between my first career path and the counselling/therapeutic process. What it is to know, to understand, and to experience is completely different for every single person. Where we come from, the people in our lives, the cultures and communities of which we are a part, as well as the massive range of social, spiritual, environmental, political, sexual/gender, and even technological influences combine to create a rich, entirely individual, and multi-layered story. That story, that narrative, is knowledge and it makes us the expert of our own lives.
What catches many of us of guard, though, are unhelpful, problem-laden interpretations of our life stories. They weigh us down, hold us back or dominate our thinking in a way that makes it difficult to lead an authentic and value-driven life. By working with a variety of therapies, I help people retell their story in a way that affirms their perspective, encourages them to focus on their strengths, and helps them develop life-long skills in interpreting, re-interpreting, and reinventing how they see themselves and the world around us.
